a typographic atlas of english place names

A publication demonstrating the composition and influence of multiple languages in English place names, through an innovative, typographical mapping system. Originally made for a brief set by the International Society of Typographic Designers for their Student Assessment Scheme in 2024, during its production it became a passion project given my interests in geography and linguistics. As well as enhancing my typographic skills, the book also made me appreciate the production stage, given I bound it by hand with a French link stitch and influence icons are printed on the rayon bookcloth spine.

It became one of the very few submissions to be awarded a Commendation by the International Society of Typographic Designers, and it has become a benchmark to assess my subsequent typographic and publications against, in terms of skill and rigour.
